Rust glossary: terms every player should know

Terms that come up constantly in Rust and in this app, explained in one line each.

About the game

  • Wipe: the periodic reset of the map and everyone's progress -you start over from scratch. Most servers wipe weekly or monthly.
  • Raid: assaulting another player's base to steal their resources.
  • Offline raid protection (ORP): a system some servers run that reduces damage to bases while their owner is offline -not every server has it.
  • TC (Tool Cupboard): the piece that marks who owns a building zone -destroying it is key to fully raiding it.
  • Zerg: a very large clan or group, usually seen as unbalanced against solo players or small groups.
  • KOS (Kill On Sight): a server's -written or unwritten- norm of killing anyone the moment you see them, no negotiating.

About accounts and bans

  • VAC ban: see What is a VAC ban.
  • Game ban / community ban: see Ban types explained.
  • Cheater score: see What is a cheater score.

About tracking

  • Raid window: see the dedicated guide.
  • BattleMetrics: see What is BattleMetrics.
