What is BattleMetrics and what it's for

BattleMetrics is an independent service (not run by Facepunch or Valve) that tracks multiplayer game servers in real time -Rust is one of the biggest games it covers. It's the source of the server and connect/disconnect data this app uses.

What data it provides

  • A list of servers with their IP, current player count and capacity, live.
  • Per-player connect/disconnect history on every server it tracks.
  • Bans set by server admins -different from a Valve VAC ban, see VAC ban vs game ban vs community ban.

Its limits

It only sees servers with public listing turned on -a private or unlisted server won't show up.

It doesn't always expose a connected player's SteamID64, only their display name -that's why this app lets you link one by hand when BattleMetrics doesn't provide it (see the Tracking guide).

Put this into practice

Rust Player Tracker follows players live, flags name changes, and gives you a cheater-risk score before you trust anyone -free to start, no card required.
