What is a cheater score and how it's calculated

It's an estimate, not an accusation: a percentage that combines several public signals from a Steam account to give an idea of how much it resembles a typical cheater profile -never proof that someone actually cheats.

What factors go into it

  • VAC bans and game bans, and how long ago they happened.
  • Account age compared to hours played.
  • Tags set by other app users (Trusted, Offliner, Cheater).
  • Server bans via BattleMetrics.

Why it isn't foolproof

A legitimate player with a new account and a lot of hours (someone who dove in hard from day one) can end up with a higher percentage without ever having cheated. The other way around, a careful cheater with an old, clean-looking account can score low. Treat it as one more data point, never the only criterion.

Where it shows up

It appears on the Steam Profile tab when you search any SteamID, and in the "High risk" list (accounts at 50%+ that other users have already found).

Put this into practice

Rust Player Tracker follows players live, flags name changes, and gives you a cheater-risk score before you trust anyone -free to start, no card required.
