Privacy policy

Last updated: September 20, 2026.

This policy explains what personal data Rust Player Tracker processes, where it comes from, what it's used for, and what rights you have -whether you have an account on the site or you simply show up in it because you play Rust and someone looked you up or tracked you.

Data controller

Rust Player Tracker, reachable at soporte@rustplayertracker.com.

Data from people who create an account

  • Email address and password (the password is handled by Supabase Auth in encrypted form; this site never sees it in plain text).
  • Plan, subscription status and purchased search credits -managed by Stripe. This site never stores card numbers or full payment details, only the customer/subscription id Stripe gives us.
  • The SteamID you choose to link to your account (to see your own bans/account age in the app, or for the profile opt-out, see below) -this is voluntary and entered by you.
  • Account preferences: language, alert settings, players and servers you follow, notes and tags you write.

Data about players who do NOT have an account here

The site's core function is looking up PUBLIC information about any SteamID or Rust server player: profile name, avatar, Steam account creation date, bans (VAC and game bans), name history, Steam groups, friends list (if the profile allows it), in-game stats, and their connection status on Rust servers according to BattleMetrics.

That person isn't necessarily a Rust Player Tracker user: they can be any player another user decided to look up or track. This site doesn't create that data -it's already public on Steam or BattleMetrics- and only queries and presents it more legibly when someone searches for it.

If that data identifies you and you don't have an account here, you still have the rights described below, including a FREE way to request that your SteamID can't be searched on the site.

What it's used for

  • Providing the service: managing your account, showing the status of players you follow, and resolving Steam profile lookups.
  • Managing payments and subscriptions through Stripe.
  • Sending strictly necessary service emails (welcome, account confirmation, password recovery) via Resend.
  • Preventing abuse of the service (for example, plan-based usage limits).

Legal basis

  • Performance of a contract: for anyone who creates an account and uses the service, including paid subscriptions.
  • Legitimate interest: for showing public data about Rust players when another user looks them up or tracks them, for the specific purpose of in-game information (for example, knowing if someone has a ban history before playing with them). This interest is weighed against that person's right to object, see below.
  • Consent: for any non-essential communications, if there ever are any (none are sent today).

Who data is shared with

Data is never sold to third parties. It's shared only with the providers strictly necessary to operate the service, each acting as a data processor or under its own policy when it acts as a public data source:

  • Supabase -database hosting and authentication.
  • Stripe -payment processing and subscription management.
  • Resend -sending the service's transactional emails.
  • Steam Web API (Valve) and BattleMetrics -public sources for the profile and server data shown in the app.

International transfers

Some of these providers (Stripe, Resend) may process data outside the European Economic Area. When they do, it's under the safeguards required by GDPR (such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses), as published in each provider's own privacy policy.

How long data is kept

Account data is kept while the account is active, plus a reasonable period after closing it in case legal obligations or claims need to be addressed. Looked-up Steam profile data is cached so the app doesn't have to re-fetch it every time, and is updated or removed on request per the rights described below.

Cookies

The site uses only a session cookie, strictly necessary to keep you signed in while using the app (managed by Supabase Auth), and, if you browse without an account, a technical cookie to remember your guest session. Neither requires consent since both are strictly necessary for the service to work. The site does not use analytics, advertising or social-media cookies.

Also, if you pause browser alerts, that preference is saved in your browser's local storage (rt_avisos_pausados) so it is remembered on your next visit. It is a setting you ask for, so it does not require consent either, and it is removed when you turn alerts back on or clear the site's data.

Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability at any time by writing to soporte@rustplayertracker.com. This applies whether you have an account on the site or you simply show up in it because you play Rust.

Hiding your SteamID from searches ('private profile')

If you don't want your SteamID to be searchable on the site, there are two ways:

  • Free: write to soporte@rustplayertracker.com with the SteamID (or your Steam profile URL) you want hidden. It's processed manually, within a reasonable time and at no cost -this is how you exercise your right to object without paying anything.
  • Paid (optional, for convenience): a separate subscription that activates the block instantly, without waiting for manual processing, and lets you change the linked SteamID whenever you want from your account.

Minors

The service is not directed at children under 16, and account information is not knowingly collected from anyone under that age.
